I visited Russia in 2013. It was a fantastic learning experience. A state that had emerged from communism was struggling to search new identity for itself. It was indeed at crossroads--a state of treading on the path of capitalism or remaining a hybrid country.

I was fortunate to be the guest of a Russian friend. I didn't know him directly, but I returned from Russia with the invaluable gift of his warm hospitality and friendship, which I still enjoy after so many years.
